For the first time, AO Drones, a business unit of AO Multimedia & Drones, flies in Switzerland.

AO Drones developed and produced a crowd-pleasing drone show for one of Europe’s largest public festivals – the “Züri Fäscht”.

Based on the sustainability messages of the main sponsor EWZ, the designers of AO Creative developed in cooperation with the supervising agency Jeff an emotional story in flying animations. The goal: Integrating new sustainable media into a giant environmentally friendly festival.

Around 2 million people attend Switzerland’s largest folk festival this year.

Featuring various animated emotional scenes, the images based on Disney’s famous Lion King, tell of the cycle of generations in connection with new energies for today, tomorrow and the generations to come.
300 LED drones from AO Drones conquered the skies above the world famous Lake Zurich in Switzerland. The energy company EWZ proudly presented an environmentally sustainable and colorful drone light show that told an emotional story themed under “New Energy, Cycle Of Generations”. The show was synchronised to an inspiring medley of pop music.

An equalizer made of drones visualised the intro of this year’s drone show. The famous Züri Leu roars, and a baby lion appeared and made its first roar.  The sun rised behind the Zurich skyline and transformed over a three-dimensional globe into a growing lion scene. The colourful drone spectacle thrilled audiences around the lake on the three successive festival nights.

The launch pad for the EWZ drone show floated directly on the Lake Zurich. Firmly anchored and provided with buoys, the floating platform served as a take-off and landing zone, surrounded by a restricted safety zone set up by the water police. Due to the slight swell caused by the wind and the resulting wave-like movement of the platform, the drone software had to be subsequently adapted to the weather conditions. This ensured a safe and collision-free launch.

In keeping with the theme of new energies, the drones were powered by 100% natural electricity produced from hydro and wind power as well as solar energy.
