The Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) is one of the city’s biggest annual events and offers a varied programme for visitors from all over the world. This year, we had the honour of being part of this event with a special production: Twice a night, a fleet of 1,000 drones took off from Skydive Dubai and flew over The Beach, JBR and Bluewaters Bay to transform Dubai’s skies into an impressive stage.

Scheduled for 76 shows over 38 evenings, the project was one of the most elaborate of its kind and set new standards for visual storytelling in public spaces. Our drones provided a unique visual experience along the coast for thousands of spectators to enjoy.

CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF DUBAI SHOPPING FESTIVAL

In our first drone show theme “Celebrating 30 years of Dubai Shopping Festival” we showcased the popular wide range of entertainment offers – from shopping, concerts, sports, to events and more. We used a new kind of element during the show. We integrated a character that was flying along the sky and talked to the people having a real communication and connecting the pictures of the show. This abstract narrator created a bridge between the images and accompanied the transitions.

For the first time we had an interactive content within our drone show. Visitors had the opportunity. to send text, names or emojies to be displayed in the night sky.

OUR 2024 INNOVATIONS:

• LED and pyro drones combined for the first time – a first at DSF that created additional visual depth.

• Optimised software control – for particularly smooth transitions between sequences and an immersive experience.

• Live skydiving from 10,000 feet – a spectacular moment that took the introductory shows to a new level.

Our two customised drone shows were designed with large-scale formations, precise choreography and a coordinated soundscape.

• The first show celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Dubai Shopping Festival and showcased the variety of festival highlights.

• The second show was dedicated to Dubai as a city of the future and reflected the innovative power and vision of the metropolis.

Drones form an animated shape of an abstrct sound wave. This element leads the audience through the show as narrator. At the same time it accompanies the transformation between the pictures.

During the first opening show beautiful pyro drones with waterfall effect highlight the dancer’s ribbon.
