His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai and a host of VIPs attended a display where 1,100 of our technology-advanced drones soared over Dubai’s Solar Park to celebrate the project. The drones formed an array of dazzling configurations around the Solar Tower at the centre of the Park, which is located in the desert outside downtown Dubai.
The drones were choreographed in synergy with a sophisticated lighting design by Jerry P. Appelt, where 38x FALCON BEAM2 7k xenon searchlights, 35 FALCON 6000 4K xenon searchlights, 34 Mite Beam 2k and 11x Showlaser Phaenon X RYGB 30000 created a spectacular, varied display to reflect the groundbreaking inauguration of the world’s largest single-site Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) project.

Renowned lighting designer Jerry P. Appelt comments: “The approach was to translate the story envisioned by PublicisLive into a three-dimensional visual experience that, through its composition, directly contributed to the experience of the size of the area and conveyed the uniqueness of this facility to the viewer. The challenge here was to transfer the visitor experience from an indoor experience in the location to a large-scale outdoor experience through the opening LED walls, and to combine the individual visual components such as drones, lasers, light and content to create an overall visual experience and to synchronise it with the score/soundtrack of the show in order to bring all elements to the point.”

The after-dark event was organised by global event management firm PublicisLive and the drones, laser and light show accompanied a video screen presentation that unveiled the incredible achievements at the Solar Park. We created a sophisticated, suitably impressive drone, light and laser show to mirror the technological advances and green energy future that Dubai is creating.
